Sam Matthew

GENERAL MANAGER

Sam Matthew was hooked on delicious, carefully-prepared food at a very young age. From helping his mom prepare home cooked meals to being packed up with his siblings and treated to a family dinner at Rob Feenie’s Lumiére in Kits, some of his earliest memories centre around exceptional dining experiences.

Sam’s love of food drew him to the Sylvia Hotel where he got his feet wet learning about the back of house as a dishwasher. Soon he was captivated by the action and lively activity at the front of house, luring Sam to become a server assistant. He worked hard, eventually becoming a server, and then bartender.

When Sam was ready to move on from the Sylvia Hotel, his career path took him all over B.C., from the Backeddy Pub on the Sunshine Coast and then back to the hustle and bustle of Vancouver where he did stints at ‘Diva at the Met’ and ‘Nightingale’. It was at Nightingale where he established himself as one of the top servers in an upscale dining establishment and where Sam waited on Chef Gus a few times prior to him opening Published. Through talk of Chef’s vision and dreams for the restaurant, a seed was planted for Sam’s future plans.

In August 2020, Sam Matthew joined the Published team and quickly fell in love with the space, the food and the people. Sam found himself within a team who love what they do and yearn to create the best experience they can for their guests. Following almost a year as one of Published on Main’s star servers, Sam has decided to take on the role of Assistant General Manager.
